Short-Term Vacation Rentals

To preserve local neighborhoods and support housing availability, the City Council voted in 2016 to adopt resolution number 16-07 (PDF) confirming the existing ban on short-term rentals throughout the city.

  • Transient rentals, vacation rentals, and short-term rentals are the same thing: the rental of a space for 30 days or less. This includes entire homes and a portion of a home.
  • Vacation rentals are not legal in residential zones.
  • Vacation rentals are not legal in village mixed-use.
  • Hotels, motels and bed & breakfast establishments are exempt.

Property owners will receive warnings and citations for violating this ordinance. This includes advertising a property as available to rent for less than 30 days. Property rentals for more than 30 days are allowed.
